The Sandwich Glossary U-V gives you words and terms that have to do with this perfect, portable meal. It can be as simple or as complex as you like. You can take it to work for lunch or eat it for breakfast, dinner, or even dessert.

The list below contains words we have found so far that begin with U or V. You can add to the list as well. We've added a form below and you can add a term and the definition of a word that we haven't listed.

It would be really great if our international visitors could add words that relate as well. Pretty soon we'll have a great resource.

  • Ube Sandwich - (Philippines) A sweet sandwich made with ube halaya (purple yam jam) spread, often served on white or whole wheat bread.
  • Ukrainian Salo Sandwich - (Ukraine) A sandwich made with salo (cured pork fat) and often served with rye bread, garlic, and onions.
  • Ulster Fry Sandwich - (Northern Ireland) A sandwich made with ingredients from an Ulster fry, such as bacon, sausage, black pudding, and eggs, served on soda bread or a roll.
  • Ultimate BLT - (USA) An enhanced version of the classic BLT sandwich (bacon, lettuce, and tomato) with additional ingredients like avocado or a fried egg.
  • Umami Burger - (USA) A burger designed to maximize umami flavor, often made with ingredients like mushrooms, soy sauce, and aged cheese, served in a bun.
  • Unagi Sandwich - (Japan) A sandwich made with grilled eel (unagi), often served with vegetables and sauce in a bun or on bread.
  • Union Square Burger - (USA) A gourmet burger named after Union Square, often featuring high-quality beef and unique toppings, served in a bun.
  • Uruguayan Chivito - (Uruguay) A sandwich made with steak, ham, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and often topped with a fried egg, served on a bun.

  • Vadapav - (India) A popular street food sandwich made with a spicy potato fritter (vada) served in a bun (pav), often accompanied by chutneys and fried green chili.
  • Vada Pao Burger - (India) A fusion sandwich combining the traditional vada pav with elements of a burger, often served with lettuce, tomato, and cheese.
  • Vada Sambar Sandwich - (India) A sandwich made with vada (savory doughnut) and sambar (lentil-based vegetable stew) often served in bread.
